WATCH: Diljit Dosanjh reveals what Rabindranath Tagore said when he was asked to write the world anthem

New Delhi:

What happens in Kolkata does not stay in Kolkata. Diljit Dosanjh performed at the City of Joy last night as a part of his Glorious Dil-Luminati India Tour and summed up the spirit of the city with the chant “Karbo, Larbo, Jeetbo Re” (We will fight and we will win). The singer, who has been making headlines with every performance, immersed himself in the true spirit of Bengali culture and heritage while addressing the huge audience present there. Soon after his performance, Diljit shared a video from the concert on his Instagram feed. Diljit talked about Rabindranath Tagore and in his unique style connected the cultural heritage of Punjab with Bengal.

In the video, Diljit, referring to the cultural heritage of Kolkata, says, “I was reading about Rabindranath Tagore. I liked his words. Someone asked him to write the world anthem because he had written the national anthem (Jana Gana Mana). He gave a very sweet answer. Rabindranath Tagore replied, “Guru Nanakji wrote it much earlier, in the 15th century.” Diljit then read out a few lines from Guru Nanak’s work, which read, “The sky is like a plate. The sun and the moon are lamps…” He ended his speech by mentioning the decades-old love between Punjabis and Bengalis. Did.

Diljit also gave a strong rendition of Shahrukh Khan’s mantra “Korbo Larbo Jeetbo Re”. Diljit can be heard saying, “Karbo, larbo, jeetbo re… It’s a very good tagline. Is it from the IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders? It’s great. And especially, it’s Shah Rukh Khan Sir’s team, so I like it. It’s a good mantra, whether we win or not, we have to give 100%. at cost Will be victorious. This is a very good slogan.” While sharing the video, Diljit wrote, ”Thank you love you again.” Keep an eye out:

Before the concert, Diljit visited Kolkata’s iconic locations including the Indian Coffee House, Howrah Bridge and the banks of the Ganga. To keep an eye:

Diljit’s next stop is Bengaluru. He will conclude his India tour in Guwahati on December 29.
