In Waves 2025, PM Modi inaugurated the summit and released memorial tickets honoring the five prestigious data of Indian cinema, with Guru Dutt and P. Bhanumati is included.
Mumbai: Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, Guru Dutt and Dutt in the World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit 2025. Memorial postage stamps were issued in the name of five legends of Indian cinema including Bhanumati.
PM Modi inaugurated 2025 at the Jio World Center in Mumbai on Thursday.
After his main address for a packed auditorium of global representatives, PM Modi issued a postage stamp in memory of Indian cinema legends.
Postage stamps have been released in the name of five famous and transformative figures of Indian cinema.
It included filmmaker Guru Dutt, actress P. Bhanumati, director Raj Khosla, filmmaker Ritvik Ghatak and music composer Salil Chaudhary are included.
In his main address, PM Modi also reflected India’s growing cultural influence, cited examples of famous figures in Indian cinema from time to time.
“In recent years, Indian cinema has been successful in taking India’s spirit to the farthest corners of the world. From Raj Kapoor’s legacy to Satyajit Ray’s glimpse in Russia, in Cannes, and the victory of RRR in the Oscar, these milestones speak,” PM Modi said.
“Whether it is the poetry cinema of Guru Dutt, the music rhythm of R Rahman, or the epic story of Rajamouli, these narratives have touched the hearts of millions. Just as a mother weaves dreams for her child, the creative world weaves dreams of an entire era.”
Considering India’s rich cinematic history, PM Modi said that India’s first feature film, Raja Harishchandra, was released on May 3, 1913, directed by leading filmmaker Dadasaheb Phalke. He remembered that Phalke’s birth anniversary was celebrated a day earlier. He underlined the influence of Indian cinema in the last century, saying that it has successfully taken India’s cultural essence to every corner of the world.
Waves 2025, India’s first-type World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit started today at Jio World Center, Mumbai.
The Prime Minister expressed enthusiasm for the creative developments displayed in the Bharat Mandap during the wave summit. He commented that significant innovation had been obtained, and he was eager to see these works for the first time.
The Prime Minister highlighted the wave market initiative, keeping in mind the ability to encourage new creators and connect them to emerging markets. She praised the concept of adding buyers and vendors to the art industry, stating that such an initiative strengthens the creative economy and provides new opportunities for artists.
Waves Bazaar, an international e-marketplace, featuring more than 6,100 buyers, 5,200 vendors and 2,100 projects, which facilitates cooperation in global trade and creative materials.
PM Modi has also been designed to visit Createosphere, where he will interact with the creators selected from the “Create in India” challenges, who attract more than 100,000 participants in the last one year.
The four -day summit with the tagline “Connecting Creators, Connecting Countries” is set for India’s position as a global hub for media, entertainment and digital innovation by bringing together the creators, startups, policymakers of the world.
In line with the vision of the Prime Minister to take advantage of creativity, technology, and talent to shape a bright future, waves will integrate movies, OTT, gaming, comics, digital media, AI, AVGC-AXR, broadcast and emerging technology, which is a comprehensive display of India’s media and entertainment provisions. Extending India’s footprint in the global entertainment economy, the waves aim to unlock the market of $ 50 billion by 2029 by 2029.
In Waves 2025, India is hosting the Global Media Dialogue (GMD) for the first time, with ministerial participation from 25 countries, a milestone has been marked in the country’s engagement with global media and entertainment landscape. The summit will also feature a global e-Marketplace, a global e-Marketplace with over 6,100 buyers, 5,200 vendors and 2,100 projects. Its purpose is to connect buyers and vendors locally and globally, which ensures broad-causing networking and business opportunities.
The Prime Minister visited Createosphere and interacted with the creators, selected from 32 Create in India challenges launched about a year ago, which was more than one lakh registrations. He will also visit India’s creative heritage and innovation, especially Curate Showcase, Bharat Mandap.
Waves 2025 will participate in over 90 countries with more than 10,000 representatives, 1,000 creators, 300+ companies and 350+ startups. The summit will include 42 plane sessions, 39 breakout sessions, and 32 masterclasses, which are spread in various fields including broadcast, infotainment, AVGC-AXR, films and digital media.
