Wearing tight clothes in the monsoon behind your body acne? Find the most affected body parts and how to deal with the breakout

The monsoon is most welcomed due to the relief they provide from the scorching heat of the sun, but what is disturbing is that they also affect the pH balance of the skin. The incidence of acne is quite common during the rainy season, mostly affecting the back, shoulders, or even chest. Dr. Amisha Mahajan, cosmetic dermatologist and founder, shares with Eden Skin Clinic with us, the reason behind these breakouts is mostly in tight clothing.

Link between monsoon and tight clothes

During the monsoon, the level of humidity increases. When you wear tight clothes, especially synthetic fabrics such as nylon or polyester, they implicate sweat, oil and bacteria against your skin. It creates a warm, moist environment – ideal reproductive ground for cutibacterium acne and malassezia, respectively and microbes responsible for fungal acne.

In addition, continuous friction caused by snug clothing – such as leggings, sports bras, or skinny jeans – can disturb the skin and block the pores, can deteriorate the existing brakeouts and trigger the new. This type of acne is often known as “acne mechanic”.

Most affected body parts

In the monsoon, the body acne is usually pop up on the back and shoulders, chest, buttocks and internal thighs.

These are areas where sweat accumulates and where tight fabrics stick most.

Strategies to deal with monsoon breakout

1. Opt for breathing clothes For loose, ventilated clothes made of cotton, bamboo, or linen. These fabrics allow the skin to breathe and absorb sweat instead of trapping.

2. Shower Post Sweat Session – Whether it is post-workout or sticky monsoon season, make it a habit of bathing and replacing it in dry clothes. Do not sit around in the organizations with moist or sweat.

3. Soft skin exfoliation – 2-3 times a week, use a light exfoliating body wash containing salicylic acid or glycolic acid. This helps closure the pores and reduces inflammation.

4. Non-Comedogenic nature’s body moisturizer – Avoid thick, smooth moisturizer that can block the pores. Use light, non-comedogenic options that hydrate the skin without inflicted.

5. Washing regular undergarments and gym wear – When you resume your moist or sweaty clothes again, bacteria move to your skin. This is why it is important to wear undergarments along with fresh clothes.

6. Not too much clothes – Lairing may feel comfortable during rain, but it gets more heat and sweat. Dress in single, comfortable layers until it is really cool.
