Actor Mushtaq Khan, best known for his role in Akshay Kumar’s ‘Welcome’, recently opened up about a horrifying kidnapping incident. The incident occurred on November 20, when Khan was allegedly lured by an invitation to an awards ceremony in Meerut. Speaking to India Today Digital, his business partner Shivam Yadav detailed how the actor was tricked into getting into a car, which eventually took him far away from Delhi.
Kidnapping of Bollywood actor Mushtaq Khan
Mushtaq Khan was reportedly invited to the event with a flight ticket and advance payment in his account. However, on reaching Delhi, he was taken to a secluded area near Bijnor, where he was held hostage for about 12 hours. The kidnappers tortured him and demanded a ransom of Rs 1 crore. Ultimately, they managed to withdraw Rs 2 lakh from the bank accounts of Khan and his son before the ordeal ended.
Shivam told that Mushtaq Khan managed to escape after hearing the morning azaan. Realizing that there was a mosque nearby, he took the opportunity to escape from his captors and asked the locals for help. With their support and the assistance of the police, Khan returned home safely.

Mushtaq Khan returned safely
“Mushtaq sir and his family were completely shocked by what happened to them. However, he was always sure that he would file an FIR after calming himself down. Yesterday, I went to Bijnor and filed an official FIR. We have evidence from flight tickets, bank accounts and even CCTV footage near the airport. He recognizes the neighborhood, even the house where he was kept. I think the police team will catch the culprits soon,” said Shivam.
This kidnapping mirrors the recent case involving comedian Sunil Pal, who was similarly lured to an event and later abducted. These incidents have raised concerns about potential syndicates targeting celebrities under the pretext of event invitations for extortion.
Shivam said, “We had no knowledge about the case. After Mushtaq sir returned, we talked to some of our close friends about the incident. When Sunil’s case was highlighted in the media, he informed us about it. It is shocking that two public figures from the industry had to go through a similar ordeal. We hope there will be awareness and safety for everyone in the future.”
