Actor Mushtaq Khan, known for his roles in films such as Welcome And woman 2She was allegedly abducted on the pretext of inviting her to an event in Meerut, police said on Wednesday. The actor managed to escape after being held hostage for a day.
Bijnor Superintendent of Police Abhishek Kumar Jha said that the actor’s event manager Shivam Yadav had lodged a complaint regarding the incident at Bijnor Kotwali police station on Tuesday.
According to the complaint, a person named Rahul Saini contacted Khan on October 15 and invited him to be the chief guest at an event in Meerut and also paid him an advance payment. Saini also sent Khan a flight ticket from Mumbai to Delhi for November 20.
On reaching Delhi airport, Khan was picked up by a car with a driver and two passengers. However, midway through the journey, he was transferred to a Scorpio vehicle where two additional people joined him, Yadav said in the complaint. When Khan protested, he was threatened and told that he had been kidnapped.
According to the complaint, the kidnappers took Khan hostage in Chahshiri area of ​​Bijnor and during this, Rs 2 lakh were transferred from his mobile.
On 21 November, Khan managed to escape and returned to Mumbai.
Police said the kidnappers used Khan’s phone to make several purchases in Meerut and Muzaffarnagar and withdrew cash worth around Rs 2 lakh.

Bijnor police have registered a case against unidentified persons under section 364A of the Indian Justice Code (kidnapping for ransom) and have formed multiple teams to trace the kidnappers and the Scorpio vehicle involved. Police said that complete details of the incident will be revealed soon.
Last week, actor-comedian Sunil Pal had also filed a similar complaint alleging that he was kidnapped while on his way to Uttarakhand for a show. The matter is being investigated by Uttar Pradesh Police.
Pal told that during this time the kidnappers demanded a ransom of Rs 20 lakh and he was released after paying Rs 8 lakh.
He further claimed that he was left on a roadside in Meerut, from where he reached Delhi airport and took a flight to Mumbai.
