King, Anurag Kashyap plays the main villain in this action thriller directed by Vijay Sethupathi. The film, available on Netflix, has received praise for its acting quality and plot. It has also received some criticism for its brutal display of violence. In an interview HinduAnurag Kashyap has responded to the debate and also talked about another recent film that has faced criticism for its depiction of violence – Strike. “My latest Tamil film, like StrikeAnurag said, “The film ‘Dangal’ has faced a lot of criticism for its violent scenes, but it is okay because some films trigger something or the other. I believe that violence should be shown so real and extreme that it actually stops you from doing it.”
Anurag Kashyap who is all set to make his Malayalam debut with Aashiq Abu’s film Rifle ClubAnurag also spoke about his love for regional films. He spoke about how much the storytelling style of Malayalam films influenced him. People here tell original stories that are unique to each individual. The filmmakers are bettering themselves rather than the market. In any other industry, a film like Brahmayugam would never be made in black and white. This shows that they are making the films they really want to make,” Anurag said.
The noted filmmaker said many regional films are crossing borders in an organic way. “Even commercial films are really entertaining. In a film like Aavesh, they did not hesitate to cast three influential people in the lead roles,” Anurag Kashyap said.
