Are we using technology or are we being used with the help of technology? Ananya Pandey and Vihan Samat’s film ‘Ctrl’ tries to find an answer to this question. Six years ago, an internal Google video was leaked. In this video, the Google team was heard talking about a project called ‘Selfish Laser’. They were discussing how people’s data can be used to influence them. The story of the Netflix movie ‘Ctrl’ is woven around this theme.
The story of the film is like this
Ctrl (shortcut used for control in a laptop) tells the story of social media influencer Nalini aka Nela (Ananya Pandey) and her boyfriend Joe Mascarenes (Vihan Samat). Both meet in college and then both start their social media channel ‘Enjoy’. Both of them are living a smooth life, they have millions of followers, new brands are approaching them. But one day Nella catches Joe kissing another girl. After this the situation becomes so serious that you cannot even think.
The concept of the film is new
The story of the film is quite fresh. Not only the story, the way the film is presented on screen is also very good. In this modern world where we mindlessly install any app, give our consent without reading the terms and conditions, such a movie is much needed.
acting
The entire film rests on the shoulders of Ananya Pandey. He has done full justice to his character. Joe Mascarenes has also done a great job.
Climax
The film’s climax is disappointing, but fitting. There will come a time when technology will dominate us so much that we won’t be able to stay away from it even if we want to.
Lost here
The movie looks a little boring at some places. There are several scenes in the film where you have to read the words written on the screen. In such a situation, one has to keep an eye on the screen.
See or not
This movie should be watched once, warning us about the dangers that come in our life due to technology.
