As the name suggests, IMDb is an online database of information about all things movies, videos, TV shows, podcasts, and more. It also contains ample information about various personalities from the film industry. Now this is not a unique feature of IMDb. There are several online databases such as IMDb that provide these details. IMDb gets such a popular name in the film world because its size is very large. With our film and video history, one can only imagine the ocean of information.
With over 25 million titles, IMDb is the world’s largest and most comprehensive online database for all things movie-related.

Iconic IMDb Rating
Even if people don’t use the IMDb website, IMDb’s presence is pervasive through its ratings. Can you even count the number of times you checked a movie’s IMDb rating on Google before watching it? Absolutely.
A movie’s rating on IMDb is an average of user ratings for that movie on the website. Since over 80 million users are part of IMDb, the overall average score is considered a good guide/starting point for our evaluation of that movie. An IMDb user can rate a movie on a scale of 1 to 10 where 1 is the lowest and 10 is the highest score. There is no “0”; Even the worst score for a worst movie is just a 1.

Still, movies are not the answer to being ranked and you can always ignore these ratings. Ratings are also sometimes misused to not accurately reflect the quality of the film. For example, all it takes is hating on the bandwagon to completely ruin the ratings. But if you need a fun incentive to help you choose between movies, IMDb ratings are your friend.
Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic are other popular review aggregator websites for films that provide aggregate scores for films like IMDb.
audience spectrum
IMDb is a platform for people who watch and talk about movies. The variety of opinions, conversations, reviews and analyzes provided by audiences enriches the database as it becomes a place to study the perception and larger interpretation of film culture. Whether dislike or love, IMDb highlights the ebb and flow of people’s emotions.
Lists galore!
IMDb also uses its truckloads of data and compiles them to provide top 10 lists for movies and TV shows, lists of top celebrities, fan favorites, etc.
