Sean “Diddy” Combs made his first court appearance Thursday following his recent arrest on serious charges including racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking and sexual assault. Dressed in prison garb, the 54-year-old rapper entered the Manhattan federal courthouse through a side door while his family, including his mother and some children, accompanied him in court. Diddy’s court hearing has been scheduled for May, with prosecutors suggesting more charges could be filed.

Mr. Combs has been held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn since his arrest on September 16. The notorious facility, known for housing high-profile prisoners, has suffered a number of disturbing incidents, including suicides and murders. Recently, Combs was placed on suicide watch, although his lawyer insisted in the TMZ documentary that the rapper is determined to defend himself and present his side of the story.

Combs appeared calm in court and relying on the support of his family as he faces serious sex trafficking charges. Judge Arun Subramanian, the first Indian American to serve in the Federal District Court of Manhattan, has scheduled the hearing of the case for May 5, 2025.
