Parvati meet Jayaram
Parvathy Jayaram’s real name is Ashwathi Kurup, and she is the cousin of famous Bharatnatyam dancer and South actress Shobhana Chandrakumar Pillai. Parvathy reportedly caught the eye of director Lenin Rajendran, who offered her the lead role in his film, which was never released. Hence, Marathare Itihile (1986) directed by Balachandra Menon became her first film when she was only 16 years old.

Parvathy Jayaram became a famous star in Malayalam films in the 80s and 90s. The actress married her onscreen brother
Parvathy worked with famous South actor-comedian Jayaram in several films, including Shubhayatra (1990), Swagatam (1989), Ulsavapittenu (1988), and Aparan (1988). Later, the couple got married in 1992 at the Town Hall, Ernakulam.
Interestingly, in the 1989 film Swagatam, Jayaram and Parvathy played brother-sister. The film was directed by Venu Nagavalli. They played brother and sister in the mystery psychological thriller film written and directed by P. Padmarajan, based on his short story of the same name.
It was Jayaram’s debut film and is considered a cult classic in Malayalam cinema.
Parvati quit acting
After the marriage, Parvathy left showbiz and enjoyed marital bliss with her family in Chennai. The couple has two children, Kalidas Jayaram and Malavika Jayaram.
In her old interview with The New Indian Express, Parvathy reflected on her decision to quit acting and said, “A spouse has to sacrifice his or her career, otherwise, it will be difficult to raise the children properly. Why should a wife work if the husband earns a good salary?”

Jayaram is a famous South Indian actor who works in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi and Sanskrit films. He is a multi-talented artiste who can also work as a chenda percussionist, mimicry artist and occasionally as a playback singer.
