Why is ‘HYBE stop harming newsines’ trending?

On September 2, Newseen fans reportedly filed an official complaint against HYBE at the Yongsan Police Station in Seoul. The complaint also included Source Music and Dispatch, who were accused of leaking information and defamation through published articles.

Bunnies’ – the K-pop group’s fan – legal representative (law firm Opace) confirmed, “HYBE, as Adore’s parent company, cannot illegally collect or leak personal information about its subsidiary’s CEO and artists, nor can Source Music, another subsidiary of HYBE, do so. The illegally collected and leaked personal information was used to write articles spreading malicious comments about Newseen. This has seriously damaged the group’s reputation, and the damage continues,” as reported by AllKpop.

HYBE-Newgens Controversy

Adore CEO Min Hee Jin previously accused HYBE and girl band ILLIT of copying Newsines’ appearance, choreography, and music style. The feud has largely affected the younger members. The false information and defamation are now set to be rectified through legal means.

Lee Hyun Gon, a Seoul-based lawyer, commented that if the previously released KakaoTalk conversations between Adore’s CEO and other executives were leaked by HYBE’s internal team, the matter would be considered a serious breach of personal information, making it a violation of the law.

A representative of Newseen also said that the team will continue to prosecute malicious posts against the girl group. The team has successfully collected about a thousand such posts and they will continue to take legal action considering all prosecutable cases.

What is the response from Newseen members?

A few hours ago, group member Daniel contacted all of her fans via a calling app. The idol wrote, “I’m sorry I couldn’t talk to you for a while because I needed time to think. Our bunnies must have been worried and confused.”

Daniel revealed how shocked he was when former CEO Min Hee Jin was replaced by Kim Joo Young on August 27, 2024. He continued, “To be honest, I was going through a lot of thoughts after our CEO was fired. I guess I was a little lost! I was also worried. Not a day went by that I didn’t think about you guys. And how you must be feeling. I always wanted to be happy and cheerful in front of the bunnies.”

She concluded with a happy message for fans: “Just know that we are always so grateful for our bunnies and we’re always thinking of you. I love you. Goodnight, bunnies.”
