What did Emma say?
During the conversation, Emma talked about the ‘nepo baby’ controversy and said, “There are two sides to the coin. People say, you know, you have an edge because your family is in the industry. But then the other side of it is that you have to prove yourself more. Also, if people don’t have good experiences with other people in your family, you will never get a chance.”
‘I think it’s harder for young girls’
“Everybody loves an overnight success story. And so if you’re not a girl coming up in Hollywood, people look at you like, ‘Well, that’s what your father was like.’ I always joke, ‘Why doesn’t anybody call George Clooney out for being a Nepo Baby?’ [His aunt] Rosemary Clooney was an icon.’ I think the nepo baby thing gets tricky for young girls. Like, I don’t really see people calling the sons of famous actors nepo baby, not that they should be called that.
Over the past few months, there has been constant criticism of actors coming from established families in the industry, with several actors such as Lily-Rose Depp, Zoe Kravitz, Dakota Johnson, Maya Hawke and Elizabeth Olsen being named in the spotlight for their privilege.
George Clooney is one of the world’s most famous actors, who is also the director and producer of many Hollywood films. He began acting in television in the late 1970s and is known for films such as Ocean’s 11, Out of Sight, Three Kings, The Perfect Storm, O Brother, Where Art Thou? and The Descendants.
