Fans trend a challenging drink-driving challenge amid BTS’s Suga’s DUI controversy.
BTS Suga recently got embroiled in a drunk driving controversy. While the case is still in process, the BTS Army trend is a disturbing challenge on social media platforms. The rapper’s fans started the #SugaChallenge in an effort to support their idol, which has made everyone on the internet concerned about those participating in this challenge.

What is #SugaChallenge?
On Tuesday, August 6 (KST), Suga was booked on a DUI case as he was caught driving an electric scooter under the influence of alcohol. The results of a Breathalyzer test showed that his blood alcohol content was 0.227% which is eight times higher than the legal limit of 0.03% in South Korea. The controversy also grew due to confusion over the vehicle, which did not fit into the personal mobility device category according to the latest reports. Suga will now have to face the process of criminal investigation.
While the internet was divided on the matter, supporters of the K-pop celebrity started the #SugaChallenge which involved drinking alcohol in the car. People were concerned about the safety of those participating in the challenge. The challenge is against all traffic laws and safety rules related to reckless driving and DUI.
A user on X posted a photo of alcohol in a car and wrote, “Friday night #SugaChallenge let’s beat this case.” Another user wrote, “We stand with you Min Yoongi #SugaChallenge,” while another user wrote, “That’s right we are above the law #SugaChallenge”
Other fans objected to the challenge as one user wrote, “The Suga Challenge is the stupidest thing I’ve ever seen!!! #SugaChallenge go home and be alone forever. Bring it on if you want,” while another user referred to the challenge, writing, “I seriously don’t understand these kinds of «pranks».”

Since the challenge began, several posts have appeared on social media platforms in which fans have encouraged others to drink alcohol before getting behind the wheel of their vehicle to show their support for the Daechwita singer. Several instances of the challenge were posted on the micro-blogging platform, X. While many have considered it to be sarcasm, others felt it was an attempt to divert attention from the rapper’s controversy. Nonetheless, the challenge incites and promotes reckless behavior among people, given Suga’s fan base and the authenticity of the challenge is yet to be confirmed.
