Oscar winner-actress Kate Blanchet feels that Hollywood’s most glamorous awards should not return.
During an appearance on Matt Rogers and Bowen Yang’s Las Culture Podcast, trio discussed the aggressive nature of social media and phone.
Blanchet said about the issue, “There are very few spaces that you can now go, where you are private. This is what I loved about the late 80s, all the dance parties in Sydney for Mardi Grass were going to the dance parties. People were just there.”
He said, “They were very much present, you know, they were simply together, collectively, a great time. It was non-invasive. Nobody was being recorded. Nobody cares about what no one did.”
Like photographers and lip readers, the conversation at the award show was shifted to celebrity’s annoyance Diversity,
Blanchet questioned, “Lip readers?”
The hosts explained that there is a section of social media that is dedicated to the lips of the stars, while they are having personal conversations on red carpets.
“This is really, what’s what? I mean, do something. Ikbana or learn something else, like it is really beautiful. I mean, I say, I know it is blasphemy, go back to the day when it was not television. Bringing it back and just bringing it to a great party where people can let the bus go,” Blanchet said.
He continued, “I mean, fashion is very good, and all of that stuff. We will finally find out who won or who is not winning. But it would be so good that it is behind the closed doors. Absolutely a very different evening.”
