Wiz Khalifa has apologized after being arrested in Romania for marijuana possession and abuse.
American rapper Wiz Khalifa was arrested for drug use during his performance in Romania. He was in town for his performance at the Beach Please! Festival, where he consumed marijuana on stage on Saturday. Footage from the festival shared on social media during Khalifa’s performance showed him casually smoking on stage and also included clips of emcee Black and Yellow being arrested by police. Law enforcement later issued a press release regarding the incident and Khalifa apologized.

Press release issued regarding Wiz Khalifa’s arrest
Following the 36-year-old rapper’s arrest, Romanian anti-organized crime prosecutors DIICOT issued a press release confirming the night’s events. According to the press release, “During a recital held during a music festival held in the Costinesti resort, Constanţa County, [Khalifa] He possessed over 18 grams of cannabis (the risk drug) and consumed an additional amount of cannabis in the form of a craft cigarette (on stage).”
“We clarify that, throughout the entire criminal process, the persons investigated enjoy the procedural rights and guarantees provided by the Criminal Procedure Code, as well as the presumption of innocence,” it further reads, reports The Hollywood Reporter.

Recreational marijuana use is illegal in Romania. A video that surfaced online showed the rapper being arrested and escorted out of the venue, although he was later released from custody.

Wiz Khalif apologizes after arrest
The See You Again rapper issued a public apology on micro-blogging site X following his arrest in Romania. “Last night’s show was amazing. I meant no disrespect to the country of Romania by turning the lights on stage. They were very respectful and let me go. I’ll be back soon. But next time without any big deal,” he wrote in the apology.
Interestingly, the Beach Please! venue was also the site of an anti-drug campaign, led by Andrei Celaru, a YouTuber and co-founder of the festival, in collaboration with the Romanian Interior Ministry, as reported by The Telegraph.
