Chennai: Superstar Rajinikanth on Monday congratulated the Indian women’s cricket team on becoming world champions and said the team has hoisted the tricolor across the world ‘with fearless, unwavering spirit’.
Going to my X timeline to write my thoughts on Historic victory, Rajinikanth wrote, ,What a proud moment for India! For those unaware, Harmanpreet Kaur-led India defeated South Africa by 52 runs to lift the World Cup crown for the first time. Shafali Verma scored the highest score of 87 runs, while Deepti Sharma played an inning of 58 runs in the middle overs. Richa Ghosh provided the momentum in the end with 34 runs.

Rajinikanth’s close friend and well-known Tamil actor, producer and politician Kamal Haasan wrote in his congratulatory post, “Indian women’s cricket’s 1983 moment has arrived! Your names will live on in folklore. Their legacy will light millions of dreams. Congratulations, Team India!”
