The World Federation of Neurology (WFN) initiated World Brain Day to raise awareness about neurology and brain health. WFN was founded on July 22, 1957 in Belgium. The concept first emerged from a proposal by the Public Awareness and Advocacy Committee, which was created during the World Congress of Neurology (WCN) Council of Delegates Conference on September 22, 2013. The strong support for it resulted in the Board of Trustees approving it in February 2014. Since then, July 22 is dedicated as World Brain Day every year to promote awareness and support for brain health worldwide.
