New Delhi: According to a report by Northeast Now, famous Assamese singer and multi-talented artist Zubeen Garg has allegedly died in a tragic scuba diving accident in Singapore.
As ANI reported, the Northeast India Festival also issued a statement saying that Zubine Garg had difficulty breathing during the scuba diving. The statement said, “He was immediately given a CPR before going to the General Hospital in Singapore. Despite his efforts to save him, he was declared dead at the ICU around 2:30 pm.”
Zubeen was in Singapore to attend the North East Festival and was about to perform today. Shocking news has left fans, supporters and Assamese community worldwide in mourning.

Known for his immense contribution to Indian music and cinema, Zubeen Garg was a huge person in the entertainment industry. Over the years, he created a place as a singer-songwriter, musician, lyricist, music director, actor, filmmaker, screenwriter, poet and philanthropist.
His sudden and untimely demise leaves a significant void in India’s cultural and music scenario.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma paid a heartfelt tribute to Garg’s passage, wrote, “Today Assam lost one of his favorite sons. I am in disadvantage of words to tell what the Zubine did not do for Assam. Our future generations will remember him as a party of the culture of Assam, and his work will inspire many more talented artists in the coming days and years.”

Assam cabinet minister Ashok Singhal also wrote for his X, “Unhappy with the untimely demise of our beloved Zubine Garg. Assam has not only lost a voice, but has a heartbeat. Who is Zubeen Garg?
Zubeen Garg started singing in a three -year tender age and released his first album, Anamika in 1992. Some of his most popular Assamese albums include Maya, Jubinore Anthem, Zabada, Pakhi, Sheshu and Janji. Apart from his regional success, he lent his voice to many Hindi films such as Dil Se, Vaistava, Fiza, Ashok, Kate, Gangster, and Krrish 3. However, it was his hit song “Ya Ali”, which was from the 2006 romantic thriller gangster: Ek Prem Kahani, Imran Hames, said Kangana Rand.
