You star Penn Badgley, rapper Saweetie discuss Diljit Dosanjh incident on podcast: ‘He’s huge’

Saweetie worked with global music icon Diljit Dosanjh on the track Khutti and it has become her favourite collaboration till date. The American rapper says working with him introduced her to the entire Punjabi culture and she fell in love with it. Sweety has worked with Punjabi superstar Diljit Dosanjh on the track Khutti.

The rapper recently did a podcast in which he shared his experiences of working with Diljit.

What did he say?

When asked about her favourite collaboration, Saweetie admitted, “My favourite collaboration is actually my Punjabi collaboration”. Your actor Penn Badgley was also a part of the podcast.

He revealed that he has worked with Diljit on the same subject. He said, “What I liked most about this film is that it introduced me to a different culture. I am used to being in the R&B and rap space.”

“But that kind of perspective opened my eyes. There were certain words I had to pronounce a certain way. I had to learn what they meant, and getting exposed to a different culture, getting to know a community that wasn’t so familiar, it was great. His team was great. He was great. And I really appreciate that,” the rapper said.

On the occasion, Saweetie praised Diljit for making his mark internationally, pointing out that all tickets for his show at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles were sold out. Penn added, “Yeah, he’s huge.”

“He’s doing it all completely on his own. I like him and his team. They’re very respectful and very polite. I didn’t expect this. I appreciate their behavior,” she concluded.

The Punjabi track was released on Diljit’s YouTube channel earlier this year on March 22. The music video features the two dressed in different outfits and has garnered a lot of attention.

Composed by Raj Ranjodh and Harv and written by Raj Ranjodh and Sweety, the song features Diljit’s Punjabi voice and Sweety’s rapping.

Earlier, Diljit has added many more notes to his international partnerships by working with Camilo, Julius DuBose and Sia. In 2020, he became the first Punjabi artist to appear in Times Square in New York City. In 2023, he became the first Indian artist to perform at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. And earlier this year, he achieved another historic moment when he became the first Punjabi singer to appear on The Tonight Show. His Dil-Luminati tour established him as an international icon.
