Lana Del Rey’s husband’s ex-fiancée breaks silence on singer’s marriage

“I’m shocked because we were engaged for 12 years and a month later he got married,” the 45-year-old told the Daily Mail on Saturday. Despite being surprised by Del Rey’s sudden nuptials, Welsh has nothing but good wishes for the newlywed couple.

“But I’m happy for him. He is a very protective, hard-working, manly man. He needed to get out of his comfort zone. He was used to living life and staying out of the swamp. He deserves this blessing, Welsh said of his former teammate.

The crocodile expert met and dated Welsh in high school but separated after a year. Their romance was later rekindled in 2011 after Dufresne divorced his first wife, with whom he has two sons and a daughter.

Meanwhile, the 39-year-old singer first met the swamp tour guide during a boat trip in 2019. Since Del Rey mostly keeps her personal life out of the spotlight, not much is known about their relationship that may or may not have come to light after their first meeting.

However, based on Welsh’s statement, the video game hitmaker exchanged vows with Dufresne after only being together for a month. “I will say that he seems really happy with her,” she added, “and she seems happy with him, which is nice to see. It’s not some fake happiness. He really loves her.”

Welsh spoke about her ex-husband, whom she now considers “a friend”, saying, “He’s always been a giver, so if somebody gives it to him, he deserves it. He’s a very solid guy. A “I care about her a lot as a friend. Her ability to love, care for, and protect people is what makes her so charming,” he said.
