Maa Movie Review: Kajol’s film Maa has released on Friday. It is a drama drama film starring Ronit Roy and Khireen Sharma along with Kajol. This is Kajol’s first horror film. The film is directed by Vishal Furia. If you too are planning to watch the movie then read this review.

Maa Movie Review: The film ‘Maa’ has been directed by Vishal Furia who has earlier made the film ‘Chhori’. Kajol’s character in the film is named Ambika who is living a happy life with her husband Shubhankar (Indranil Sengupta) and daughter Shweta (Khireen Sharma). But then Shubhankar’s father passes away, due to which he has to go to Chandrapur, where he too dies. Ambika moves there again with her daughter and Ronit Roy as they have to sell their ancestral home. But Ambika does not know what she will face there.
review
The film is based on the story of Goddess Kali and Raktabij. There was a demon, when his blood fell on the ground, another demon was born from him and he was terrorizing the people of the village for a long time. But this fear slowly comes to the fore. However, from the second half you will start enjoying the story more. You will also be impressed by the climax of motherhood and will not be able to take your eyes off her.
It looks less scary than the monster it is. According to the movie, it should have given you goosebumps, but it didn’t. Apart from this, more screentime has been given to this monster part.
performance
When Kajol comes in the form of a mother, she looks very powerful. Ronit got a chance to experiment and did well. The emotional bond that existed between mother and daughter was less visible. Also there was no scope for any of the songs in the climax, so it seemed a bit disjointed.
Overall Mom had the right ingredients, from the maternal range to the creepy village vibes, but they were put together but not blended properly. It was showing how a mother fights for her child no matter how strong he is, but things were not seen that way on screen.
