He questioned why South Indian films are given the pan-India tag when they reach audiences across India. Nani said that he has always told his teams not to use this label for their films.
Speaking on ‘Paradise’ Chennai press meetNani said, “I say don’t call my film pan-Indian because I ideally don’t want any film to be called pan-Indian. For example, a Hindi film comes out, becomes a big hit in the Telugu version, in the Tamil version, in the Malayalam version; that Hindi film is not called pan-Indian, it is still called a Hindi film.”
“We see Jawan or Pathan Tamil version is doing very well in Telugu version. It is not called Pan Indian. It is still called a Hindi film. But a Telugu film does well across the country, it is called Pan Indian. I do not understand the term pan-Indian. Why has it been introduced to South Indian films? Why is it not used for Hindi films? So generally, I have always said, for every film, I have said please don’t call my film pan Indian.
Nani said that he cannot stop people from calling the films pan-Indian, even though he does not feel that the term suits his films. For him, reaching out to audiences in different parts of the country is about connecting with more people, rather than attaching a special label to the film.
The actor added that he can ask people not to use the pan-Indian tag for his films, but the final choice is not in his hands. He can only share his thoughts and ask others to understand why he prefers to describe his films without labels.
Directed by Srikanth Odela, paradise Nani marks a reunion with the filmmaker after his 2023 hit Dasara. The film also stars Kayadu Lohar, Raghav Jual, Mohan Babu and Sampurnesh Babu in lead roles.
