Rashmika Mandana plays an intense and physically demanding role in her upcoming film, Mysa. During the teaser launch event, the actor opened up about the physical and emotional toll of shooting the film and described it as unlike anything he has attempted before.
Speaking about stepping into unknown territory, Rashmika shared, “This film is a new territory for me. The first one is always nerve-wracking. I have always tried something new every time. For Maisa, I gave my life. What they all made me do! Imagination knows no bounds. But translating that to the screen is not easy at all.”
Recalling the time when they were shooting in the jungles of Kerala, Rashmika revealed that one mistake could have resulted in a serious injury.
“The director took us to the top of the hill and asked me to run as fast as I could. I expressed frustration and fear that a slip might spoil my time for other projects as well. But he wouldn’t budge,” he said, laughing at his situation.
Rashmika’s fear of heights was further tested when she was asked to jump from the 90 feet high Athirpalli Falls. Talking about the incident, the actor revealed, “The director asked me to do it! I was shaking all day, literally. He asked me to stay underwater for eight hours. Tell me, am I a fish? The mud fight was another experience. It was very difficult. Still I did it.”
With twelve days of shooting left, she admits, “I’m already scared.” However, Rashmika suffered the hardest blow behind the scenes. “While dancing, I ruptured my hip tendon. The doctor told me that he has seen this only in football players. It will take another three weeks to fix,” she added, adding, “I am soft-hearted. If the director is passionate, I can go to any extent for a film.”
Directed by Ravindra Pule, Mysa Rashmika Mandanna is in the lead role along with Samuthirkani, Ishwari Rao, Tarak Ponnappa and Guru Somasundaram. This film is going to hit theaters on November 27.
