Manju Warrier has approached a Kochi court with an injunction suit against filmmaker Sanal Kumar Sasidharan, alleging that he has repeatedly defamed her through statements and content shared in the media and social media platforms.

According to A Indian Express Reportedly, the 3rd Additional Munsif Court of Kochi has ordered Shasidharan, Malayalam online news portal operator Shajan Skaria and Meta Platforms Inc. Notice has been issued to Judge Reeza R Nair.

The summons has been directed to be returned on November 5, when the matter will be heard.

Warrier’s lawyer Santi M said the court has also issued an interim injunction to restrain Sashidharan from defaming the actor.

“A person named Sanal Kumar Sasidharan continuously defames Manju Warrier, spreads false news against him, and creates around 10,000 content daily on media and social media to defame him,” Santi M told reporters.

“We have filed an injunction suit. In that suit, the Munsif Court has now issued an interim order not to further defame Manju Warrier. The Munsif Court has issued an interim injunction against Shasidharan,” he added.

According to Santhi, Warrier had also filed criminal cases against Sashidharan in 2022 and 2023 and had also given statements in the court. He alleged that the filmmaker continued to make statements about the actor on social media despite the earlier action.

“Despite this, he continues to malign her on social media platforms by making false statements,” Santi said.

The lawyer also said the court had directed Metta to remove the allegedly defamatory content about Warrier from social media platforms.
