Kunal Khemu is all set to make a comeback with his 2024 directorial sequel. Madgaon Express. The actor-turned-filmmaker revealed that while he has already finished writing a story for the much-anticipated sequel, he is yet to commit to a time frame.

During the conversation with Variety IndiaKunal Khemu shared, “I have always said that I will not make Madgaon Express 2 Unless I really feel there is a story to tell. Fortunately, even they (collaborators and producers) didn’t bother me after that. Everyone said, ‘Okay, you figure it out.'” About the script for the sequel being ready, he revealed, “I have a story to tell, which I’ve written. At this point, I’ll keep it at that.

Madgaon Express Divyandu, Avinash Tiwari and Prateek Gandhi are featured as three friends whose reunion turns into a chaotic adventure. So, the biggest question surrounding the sequel is whether the original trio will reunite. When asked if there will be a return for the same cast Madgaon Express 2Kunal chose not to divulge the details. “Well, I’ll answer those questions another day,” he shared.

Although Kunal confirmed the story’s existence, he kept other details under wraps, including the timeline and casting.

Talking about making Madgaon ExpressKunal revealed how the experience changed his outlook on filmmaking. Having spent much of his career as an actor, Kunal shared that he was surprised by how much he enjoys being behind the camera.

“At first, I didn’t know I could direct. I enjoyed myself on set, as did everyone else. There was a great synergy. I also realized that directing allows me to be more myself than acting,” he said. Explaining how directing has changed the way he interacts with his team compared to actors in a safe environment, Kunal added, “As actors, we lead a safe life. We are in our vans, come out and do our shots, get back in our vans, and once that’s done, take our cars back home because we’re always in the public eye. But as a director you’re always in front of you. Be.’ Sometimes, you are sad, but you have to take responsibility for the situation.

For Kunal, that experience made directing particularly personal. “Disha, let me be me. It liberated me in many ways,” she added.

Kunal Khemu’s latest directorial, Vibe, Currently in theaters. She stars in her first role alongside Preity Zinta, Sapush Srivastava, and Vanshuka Dhir.
