Actor Karthik Aryan received his first National Award for the film 2024 Chandu Champion President Draupadi Murmu at a function held in Kevadia, Gujarat today.

This is the first time that the national award ceremony has been held in Gujarat instead of the familiar venue, Vigyan Bhawan in Delhi.

After arriving in Gujarat, Karthik Aryan shared a picture of himself standing in front of the tallest statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting announced the winners of the 72nd National Film Awards on 18 July.

The winners were selected by an 11-member jury headed by acclaimed filmmaker Jayaraj, who evaluated the entries from across the country before submitting their recommendations to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

Chandu Champion was released on June 14, 2024. Opening to mixed reviews, it emerged as a commercial failure, grossing ₹88.73 crore worldwide. The film also stars Vijay Raaz, Bhuvan Arora and Yashpal Sharma, Rajpal Yadav in lead roles.

In his review for NDTV, film critic Sable Chatterjee wrote, “Karthik Aryan sheds his free-spirited goodabout cloak and gets into the skin of a character that demands a lot from the actor.
