Vijay Deverakonda’s Hindi debut, 2022 movie liger Along with Ananya Pandey, was a huge failure at the box-office, but that didn’t mean the actor didn’t prepare intensely. In a recent chat, he opened up about how he survived on 200ml of water and, during the shoot, was licking an ice cube when it wasn’t even allowed.
In a conversation with Sudhir Srinivasan, he recounted how he initially started with four to six liters of water, but gradually reduced his intake.
Vijay Deverakonda said, “In the last 10 hours before a shoot, you’re not drinking water. You’re just licking an ice cube. It’s not healthy at all.”
He continued, “Every second, since I was drinking 300ml of water a day, every minute you’re just like: water, water, water. That’s all you need. That’s all you want at that moment.”
“When I was licking that ice cube and I wasn’t allowed water, I was falling asleep thinking about water. I was like, ‘I can’t act like this.’ I told them, ‘I want coconut water, take four litres’. I didn’t want to eat, I just wanted cold coconut water,” added the actor.

As for his upcoming projects, Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandana are all set to share screen space once again. Ranabali, It is her first film after marriage. Not surprisingly, expectations are rising among fans. The makers recently unveiled the teaser, which offers a glimpse of the gritty and emotionally charged world of the film.
The film draws inspiration from one of the darkest chapters in India’s history: the devastating Madras period of 1876-78.
Accordingly IMDB, Ranabali “A rebel warrior in 1870s South India during the Great Famine confronts a British commissioner defending his territory and people.”
Vijay Deverakonda plays the titular character Ranbali, while Rashmika Mandanna plays Jayamma, his wife and partner in the struggle against colonial oppression.
While the film is set against a backdrop of famine and hardship, it also appears to be a story of resistance, survival and adventure.
Directed by Rahul Sankrityan and produced by Mithri Movie Makers, Ranabali Set to hit theaters on October 16, 2026.
