Ram Gopal Varma has questioned Janhvi Kapoor’s handling of the AI-morphed video controversy. The filmmaker said that the celebrity’s public condemnation may have ended up giving the offending clip even more attention. He said the focus should have been on finding the person behind the video instead.
Taking up Deora: Part 1 the song Chatumalle. He said that by speaking publicly about the video, celebrities may have inadvertently helped other people discover it.
“The only thing that all celebrities have succeeded in is promoting and thus getting millions and millions of people to see objectionable links,” he wrote.
Ram Gopal Varma added that the priority should have been to identify and nab the person who created and circulated the content. “The best thing would have been to focus on catching the perpetrator and publicize it. Instead they tweeted the identity of the victim and drew attention to offensive content which is also a crime,” he said.

The comments came after an AI-generated video featuring Janhvi started circulating online. The video footage has been used Chatumallewhich originally featured Janhvi alongside junior NTR, but was digitally altered to show the actor in a sexually explicit and offensive manner.
Junior NTR was among the first celebrities to react to the video. He called the act “disgusting, sick and shameless” and said legal action should be taken against those responsible.
Janhvi also publicly addressed the issue on Sunday. Without going into the details of the video, the actor spoke about the misuse of technology and said sharing fictional content without consent is a “deep violation”.
The incident also drew reactions from many names in the Telugu film industry. Chiranjeevi, Vijay Deverakonda and Khushbu Sundar spoke out against the misuse of AI and supported Janhvi, as well as demanding strict action against digitally altered content.
