Abhishek Bachchan has recently been exposed to the music of Gen Z idols Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift, courtesy of his 14-year-old daughter Aaradhya. Without dismissing new-age pop icons, Bachchan said he was disappointed with Ariana’s performance when he attended a concert abroad.

“On our summer vacation, we were abroad and she took us to see an Ariana Grande concert. I didn’t know a single song, but that woman could sing. Oh my God! The sound quality… is incredible, and it’s incredible to see the likes of these young singers. I think they’re all so talented, like we don’t want the older generation, and I don’t know. To listen to Taylor Swift.” No, they actually make great music,” Abhishek said in an interview with the BBC Asian Network.

He talked about Aaradhya’s “eclectic” taste in music, saying, “I have a 14-year-old at home, so there’s a lot of Olivia Rodrigo and Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande. But thankfully, she also likes ’80s music and she’s getting into Bon Jovi, and Van Halen and Metallica, so I’ve got a safe sense of music. To listen to all that…”

As a true-blue millennial, Abhishek Bachchan loves listening to old Hindi tunes.

“Kishore Kumar is a personal favourite. I love listening to Hindi film music, especially the older ones: RD Burman, SD Burman, Kalyanji Anandji, Lakshmikanth Pyarelal, Bappi Lahiri, they are all wonderful. I enjoy it,” he shared.

Abhishek Bachchan was last seen in Riteish Deshmukh’s Marathi film Raja Shivaji. He will next be seen playing an antagonist in Shah Rukh Khan’s Baadshah. Directed by Siddharth Anand, the film stars Shah Rukh Khan in the lead role. Along with Shahrukh’s daughter Suhana Khan, Deepika Padukone, Rani Mukerji, Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Arshad Warsi etc. are also in the film.
