GOAT Animated Movie Review | A magical sports drama that not only appeals to children but also touches the hearts of adults.

Do social norms limit us or do they provide us with a necessary structure? Humans have always had a love-hate relationship with compatibility. We like to be part of a group for security, but when that same group begins to impede our individual flight, growth and rebellion become necessary.

In today’s (Gen Z) parlance, ‘GOAT’ means ‘Greatest of All Time’. But the ‘GOAT’ in this film by director Tyree Dilley is actually a ‘goat’. The film weaves modern gaols and the story of an innocent animal so beautifully that after the film is over, you are left with a big smile on your face and a glimmer of hope in your heart.

Story: The ‘raw ball’ of dreams and struggle

The story of the film is set in a fictional world called ‘Vineland’, where the obsession with ‘raw ball’ (a sport inspired by basketball) runs rampant. The story begins with ‘Will Harris’ (a goat) who wants to rise above his circumstances and become like his idol ‘Jatt’ (a star player). A decade later, fate gives Will a chance to play with his idol, Jett. But the twist in the story comes when Jet (a lioness) doesn’t want to include her in his team. The journey of harmony, trust and friendship between these two is the life of this film.

Why is ‘goat’ special?

What makes this film stand out is its choice of characters. Here, the idol of a little boy is not a male athlete, but a fearless and talented female athlete (a lioness) named ‘Jet’. Without hype, the film presents a very beautiful and profound picture of the changing heroes of modern society.

Deep meaning for adults, magic for children

The film works differently for different age groups: For Adults: The film explores the pressures of success, the fear of losing relevance, and the faint hope for second chances. Jett’s character represents people who struggle with the fear of falling after reaching the peak of their career. For Kids: For them it’s an exciting and fun world of cute animals, where friendship and bravery triumph.

Conclusion: An inspiring finale

The climax of the film offers the right mix of tension, drama and emotions in the ‘raw ball’ area. It was a smart decision to choose a sport like basketball, which gave the film a chance to jump in the air and show great moves.

‘Goat’ may not change the definition of animation, but it is a film that will comfort, inspire and remind you that every dream built with sweat and perseverance can come true.
