Aishwarya Rai, who appeared on Rendezvous for a solo interview with Simi Grewal in 2012, explained why she didn’t want to speak publicly about her breakup with Salman Khan. While Simi Grewal tried to get answers from the former Miss World, the Hum Dil de Chuke Sanam actor deflected the question to her family and her “wisdom” as a normal girl.

Simi Grewal Asked Aishwarya Rai, “Can you watch Salman’s episode objectively?”
Aishwarya replied, “I think I will shut it down. I think I wouldn’t want to see it in any way, especially on a public platform. I really wouldn’t,” Aishwarya replied.
Simi sensitively asked her if she felt negative feelings while talking about the episode.
“I have exorcised my demons. It is a thing of the past. It should be left there,” Aishwarya insisted.
Taking umbrage at Ms. Roy’s comments, Simi said if it was a thing of the past, why did she avoid talking about it in public?
Aishwarya stood her ground.
Aishwarya also shared that her decision was driven by the public scrutiny she would be under.
“These are also the people I will talk about. When people label me a diplomat, a guard, or someone who doesn’t think before they speak, that’s for them too.
While I am a public figure, I have not lost touch with the fact that I am a simple girl. And the people I talk about are normal people – people with feelings, normal relationships in their lives, with their parents, with their loved ones,” Aishwarya said.
Aishwarya and Salman Khan break up
The couple got hitched around 1999 while working on Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam.
In 2002, the couple had an ugly breakup. Reports also suggested that Salman stormed the sets of Aishwarya’s film Chalte Chalte (2003), after which he was replaced by Rani Mukerji in the lead role opposite Shah Rukh Khan. Later, when Aishwarya was in a relationship with Vivek Oberoi, Salman Khan also had a public fight with Aishwarya over Aishwarya.
Aishwarya Rai is married to actor Abhishek Bachchan since April 2007. He has a daughter Aaradhya.
