Rashmika Mandana has launched Project Annapurna, a charitable initiative that aims to provide essential food supplies and grocery assistance to families across South India.
Announcing the initiative in a video shared on social media, the actress said that she has adopted 400 families as part of the effort.
In her post, Rashmika spoke about how her characters influence her and forges a bond between herself and Jayamma, her character in the upcoming film. Ranabali.
“There’s something about the characters you play that impresses you.. Many of you keep asking if Jayamma and I have any similarities, and my answer is yes – and this is one of them. It’s always been me, and it’s also her… And I’ll always keep saying things like that for all your love… But I always kept it under wraps because I thought if I thought about just me and our team and there was only one. Knew it was enough.. C… But now I’m opening up about it because I’m thinking.. if it might influence you dear ones out there to do something like that.. I’d be happy.”
Explaining the idea behind Project Annapurna, the actress said that she wanted to help families with their grocery expenses for a certain period of time so that they could save money and plan better for their future.
“So I thought, why not start now… with this! I’ve adopted 400 families today… and I want to help 400 families for 3 months at a time and continue through the next year and hopefully they can save this money on groceries and use it to better plan for their future.”
Rashmika also spoke about the emotional value of the initiative, saying that the joy it brings makes the struggles she has put up over the years worthwhile.
“Even a small act of kindness can change a person’s life, and it doesn’t have to be big. Let’s all start small! And trust me, all these smiles after every sleepless night, the hurts, the struggles, the pain, the tears, and everything I’ve been through in the last working years.. it’s priceless!!”
