Salman Khan appeared as the first guest at Karan Johar’s ‘Koffee With Karan 9’ opener. Adding a twist to the traditional rapid-fire round, Karisma Kapoor took a host’s seat, asking Karan and Salman questions. When asked about Akshay Kumar, Salman Khan explained instead of giving a one-word or one-line answer.
He is the only actor who has grown in leaps and bounds. When I see his work, the kind of work he’s doing now, I wonder how he’s doing it. He is something else now,” Salman Khan said on the show.
Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar worked together in Mujhse Shaadi Karogi (2004) and Jaan-e-Mann (2006).
Karan Johar’s emotional video
On September 30, Karan Johar shared an emotional video announcing the final season of Koffee With Karan.
Recalling his 22-year association with the show, Karan Johar said that his father, producer Yash Johar, had doubts about its success in 2004. When Karan pitched the idea to his father, he replied, ‘Who would pay to watch you talk to your friends?’
Karan shared in the promo, “It’s more of an emotional message than a professional announcement. It was June 2004 when I told my father that I really want to host a talk show. I want to get two celebrities or stars and have an informal conversation with them. He looked at me and said, ‘Karan, you’re going to call your friends and who are you going to talk to, that you’re going to pay for it?’; on June 26 that month. He passed away, and the first day I shot for the show was August 16, 2004. Here I am now, eight seasons later, 22 years later; a lot has happened.”
“I invited lovers, friends, family, lovers who became ex-lovers; many of them even got married. I almost ended the careers of national icons; I still live with nepotism today. Guess became a kind of national word; a lot happened. Wherever I go, fortunately or unfortunately, I am always asked why they ask me when I win the next season of Croft. The feature film, but Whatever it was, I know this show gave me a lot,” says an emotional Karan.
Karan Johar gave special thanks to Salman Khan for acting in his first film, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, and for being the first guest on the finale of his talk show.
