Ahead of the worldwide release of Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana on November 5, the team is busy with promotional work in various cities across India. At a recent event in Hyderabad, Sai Pallavi, who plays Sita in the film, praised Yash’s decision to play Ravana. Sai Pallavi said that Yash was a master of character and won people’s love instead of hate.

“Nobody chooses the character of Ravana because it comes with hate. But Yash did and won everyone’s love instead,” Sai Pallavi said in the function.

Earlier, during a conversation with Rajat Sharma, Yash shared his reason why he chose the role of Ravana over Lord Ram despite being one of the co-producers of the film.

“To show Rama’s goodness, Ravana’s evil must also be shown,” replied Yash. (If we want to show Rama’s goodness, Ravana should be made evil.)

Convinced of his abilities, Yash said, “Nobody can show me better.” (No one can represent evil better than me.)

“Have you taken it upon yourself to be the bad guy on screen?” Rajat Sharma took the pinch.

Yash said, “When I don’t do a good character, no one will do it better than me.” (When I play a good character, no one can match me.)

“You have to look at Ravana – ‘How would he know?'” Yash added. “We have all put our egos aside. It is not about my stardom or me as a star in Ramayana. There are great people working on this project.”

Ramayana has been made on a huge budget of Rs 4,000 crore.

Speaking to Prakhar Gupta, producer Namit Malhotra revealed, “When we started making it six or seven years ago, people thought I was crazy because no other Indian film comes close to this scale. Put simply, the two parts combined will have a budget of around $500 million, which is over Rs 4,000 crore.”

He added, “We’re making the world’s biggest film for the greatest epic in the world that deserves to be seen globally. And yet, I believe we’re doing it more efficiently than the biggest Hollywood films. We’re not being irresponsible—we’re being ambitious, but grounded.”

The film is set to be released in two parts, with the first installment set to release worldwide in October 2026 before Diwali, while the second part is slated for Diwali 2027.

Apart from Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, Sunny Deol, Ravi Dubey and Yash have played lead roles in the film.
