SS Rajamouli’s RRR’s song Naatu Naatu made history by becoming the first Indian film song to win an Oscar. After composer MM Keeravani and lyricist Chandrabose received the Academy Award for Best Original Song, they were felicitated at a special event in Hyderabad. There, Keeravani revealed that Ramoji Rao was the reason he knew he had to win the award. Kiravani on Ramoji Rao
Keeravani’s song beat big names like Lady Gaga and Rihanna at the 95th Academy Awards, but the composer was more excited about Ramoji winning the award. Speaking at the event, he claimed that he feels the award is only important if Ramoji is excited about it.
He said, “My wife always says that one should live like Ramoji Rao at least for one day. I was initially not excited about being nominated for an Oscar. But, when I met Ramoji Rao, he told me to take the award home. I thought, if they are giving so much importance to the Oscar, I must win it. I felt the importance of the award at that time and I was also nervous a few seconds before the announcement of the award. Not for me, but for them.”
Fans are sharing old videos
On Ramoji’s demise, fans shared videos on X (formerly Twitter) and reminded how Keeravani said he won the Oscar for producer in 2023. They also shared videos of Chiranjeevi and Pawan Kalyan talking about Ramoji in a program for ETV – his channel. Chiranjeevi announced in the old video that Ramoji’s big dream after Ramoji Film City is to set up a ‘spiritual city’. Pawan also praised Ramoji for being an inspiration to many in the film industry.
