Mumbai: Veteran playback singer Alka Yagnik recently revealed that she has been diagnosed with a rare sensory nerve damage.
On Monday, on her Instagram account, Alka explained why she was absent and said that an unexpected ‘big obstacle’ took her by surprise and she is still trying to recover from it. Sharing a photo of herself, Alka wrote a long note, appealing for support and understanding from everyone. She also requested people to pray for her as she tries to readjust.
The caption of his post was, “To all my fans, friends, followers and well-wishers. A few weeks ago, while I was getting off the plane, I suddenly realised that I was not able to hear anything. Having gathered some courage in the weeks following the incident, I now want to break my silence for all my friends and well-wishers who have been asking me why I am missing in action.”
“My doctors have diagnosed it as a rare sensorineural hearing loss due to a viral attack… This sudden, massive shock has caught me completely unawares. Please keep me in your prayers as I attempt to recover from this.” He added.

Urging people to be cautious about listening to loud music and headphones, he wrote, “To my fans and young colleagues I would like to caution against listening to music at very high volumes and using headphones. One day, I would like to share the health hazards of my professional life with you. With all your love and support I am looking forward to putting my life back in order and coming back to you soon. Your support and understanding means a lot to me at this crucial time.”
Alka Yagnik is a well-known Bollywood singer. Talking about the work front, the 58-year-old singer has lent her voice to the songs of the recently released films ‘Crew’ and ‘Amar Singh Chamkila’.
