Parallelly, a solo show of artist Jyotsna Mandapaka’s carving works is also being displayed. His work reflects his keen observation of the surroundings during a residency program in Hyderabad. These works highlight the complexities of urban life, capturing fleeting moments of contemplative peace amidst the chaos of a bustling city. Jyoti’s attention to detail, combined with her mastery of the carving technique, transforms everyday scenes into profound artistic expressions with nuanced perspective. “During the residency, I spent hours observing and absorbing the rhythms of my surroundings. These carvings are an attempt to translate those fleeting impressions into lasting art,” shares Jyoti.
The exhibition not only brings together a collection of works by established and emerging artists, but also displays their creations exclusively on Hahnemühle Fine Art paper, enhancing their visual and tactile appeal.
A German paper manufacturer with over 400 years of history, Hahnemühle is synonymous with fine art paper that is widely considered the gold standard for artists and printmakers. “Their papers are prized for their durability, texture and ability to bring out the finest details of any artwork,” says Krishna Rathi of Diss Art Gallery, the official supplier of Hahnemühle papers. He added: “We wanted to celebrate a medium that has been integral to many iconic artworks.”
The group show includes a diverse mix of styles, techniques and subjects, unified by the use of Hahnemühle paper. From delicate watercolors to intricate drawings, bold mixed media works and thought-provoking prints, the versatility of paper shines through in every piece.
Earlier this week, a live watercolor portrait painting session was done by artist Naresh Mahant.
The art exhibition will run till December 1 at Diss Art Gallery, Siripuram from 10.30 am to 8 pm.
