AVM Saravanan passes away: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin pays tribute, industry mourns huge loss

Chennai: One of the most respected filmmakers of Tamil cinema AVM Saravanan passed away on Thursday morning At the age of 86 due to age related ailments.

His demise marks the end of an era for the Indian film industry.

AVM Saravanan, who celebrated his birthday just a day ago, has left behind a unique legacy as the power behind many iconic films produced under the prestigious AVM banner.

His contributions have shaped generations of cinema and earned him immense praise across the industry.

Sources close to the producer said that his mortal remains will be kept on the third floor of AVM Studios till 3:30 pm for public homage.

The news of the veteran producer’s death sent the Tamil film industry into mourning, with many production houses canceling programs scheduled for the day in honor of the man considered a visionary, guide and pioneer of Tamil cinema.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin was among those who paid respects to the late icon of Tamil cinema.

In a condolence message posted on his timeline on Twitter, Chief Minister Stalin said he was deeply saddened to hear about the demise of AVM Saravanan, one of the greatest personalities of the Tamil film industry and the face of the historically famous AVM company.

Stalin, in his condolence message, said, “Saravanan’s role in shaping the path of AVM was as important as his production house AVM had played in shaping and determining the path of the Tamil film industry.”

The Chief Minister said Saravanan had shot to fame for his father, the late AVM, fondly addressed as ‘Appachi’ and highlighted the production house’s long-standing association with the Dravidian movement through films like Anna’s ‘Oru Ravu’, Kalaignar Karunanidhi’s ‘Parasakthi’ and Murasoli Maran’s ‘Kuladevam’.

Stating that AVM Saravanan’s calm and simple nature was his specialty, Stalin said the late producer had treated everyone around him with love and kindness. The Chief Minister said he expressed his deepest condolences and sympathies to the family members and friends of the film industry of the late veteran.
