Chennai: Malayalam superstar Mohanlal on Saturday expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who congratulated him for honoring him with the prestigious Dada Saheb Phalke Award.
Thanking Prime Minister Modi for his kind of words and blessings, Mohanlal said that he filled him with encouragement and happiness.
The actor quoted the Prime Minister’s tweet as saying, “I am deeply honored and deeply honored for receiving the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. My heartfelt gratitude for Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji for your kind of words and blessings, they fill me with encouragement and happiness.

Earlier on Saturday, Prime Minister Modi said, “Shri Mohanlal ji is a symbol of excellence and versatility. With a rich body of decades, he stands as a major light of Malayalam cinema, theater and is deeply emotional about the culture of Kerala. He has also given notable performances in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Hindis.
“His cinematic and dramatic talent in mediums is really inspiring. Congratulations to him to be awarded the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. May his achievements continue to inspire their generations to come.”
On Saturday, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting announced that Mohanlal would be honored with the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award 2023 for his admirable contribution to Indian cinema.
Taking its ex -timeline, the ministry announced, “On the recommendation of the Dadasaheb Phalke Award Selection Committee, the Government of India is pleased to announce that Mr. Mohanlal will be honored with the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award 2023.”
Talking about Mohanlal’s magnificent cinematic journey, it said, “Mohanlal’s remarkable cinematic travel inspires generations! Veteran actor, director and producer are being honored for his prestigious contribution to Indian cinema. His unmatched talent, versatility and tireless hard work has set a golden standard in Indian film history.”
The post further revealed that the award would be presented to Malayalam Superstar at the 71st National Film Awards ceremony on 23 September.
Earlier, Mohanlal was honored by the Government of India for his contribution to Indian cinema in 2001 and Padma Bhushan in 2019.
In 2009, Mohanlal became the first actor in the Indian film industry to be awarded the honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Territorial Army.
