Born on the Adyar Theosophical Campus in 1929, Alladi Sarda (Sarda Hoffman) never allowed anyone to use the title ‘Guru’ before his name, instead he preferred to be called ‘Sarada teacher’. Resident students of Kalakshetra also lovingly recognized him as ‘Chinna Sarada’ because senior scholar, S. Sarada, his big contemporary, also guiding all of us through a comprehensive education in Natya.
Chinna Sarda himself is known for his unrelated accuracy as an Bharatanatyam artist, as well as an exemplary teacher who plays an important role in creating and standardizing an artworkist method for Bharatanatyam. Due to these efforts of Sarda teachers and many other teachers, the world has recognized the artshetra functioning as the best foundation for Bharatanatyam, which units many relaxed-smelling traditional training systems, which helped establish the Kalakshtera heritage.

Rukminidevi was the ideal model of Rukminidevi Amma to shape deep accuracy on the physical body and physical execution. In return, he shifted to his immediate dynasty, Yamini Krishnamurti, Adir Laxman, CV Chandrashekhar, Shanta and Self, Krishnavani Laxmanan, Ambika Buch, Kala Ramesh, Savitri Jagananathan, Balagan, Savitri Jaunanananathan, Balagananananananananananananathan, Savitri Jaunananananananathan, Lankananananananathan) and Balasundari Pratalingam (Sri Lanka). NS Jayalakshmi (teacher) also helped the teacher in this process. Years later, alumni of the famous Kalakshetra such as G. Narendra, PT Narendran and Shijith Nambiar/Parvati also studied under them and were directed by the Sarda teacher.
Even though Rukminidevi kept Chinna Sarada in some lead roles such as Parvati in ‘Kumarasambavam’, Vasantwali in ‘Kutra Kuravanchi’, in ‘Andal Charitam’, as a true teacher, as a true teacher, he shines in the lead roles in most of the major roles of the urge. Some examples include Sharada teachers who play the main Sakhi as Radha in ‘Geeta Govindam’ unlike Shanta. In the Ramayana series, he immortalized the role of Manthara in ‘Sri Rama Vana Gamnam’ and he performed two lightning minutes as Apsara in ‘Paduka Pattabhishamam’ with Shanta. Rukmini Devi cast Shanta to match the accuracy and perfection of the Sarda teacher in these products. I had the privilege of playing the role of Periazwar in front of my womb or Andal.

Some small choreographers of Sarda teacher include Natu Padal, Kumi, Kotam, Tirupapugaz verses and bhajans. ‘Murugan Thiruvarul’ was the only complete dance drama that he choreographed in Kalakshetra. Unfortunately, Kalakshetra failed to do it regularly, unlike his other presentations.
In my book, Performance beyond: Art and CultureThe Sarda is an article of an entire four-page on the teacher, which highlights his work and contributes to Kalakshetra, which pays him a monopolistic tribute.
Acclades are not many but notable. Sargenet Natak Academy (1996), Venkatakrishna Mam’s Shankara Bharanam and Narada Gana Sabha came forward to honor them before leaving for California to settle under good care of their children, Geeta Hofman and Krishna Hoffman and his wife Polyomy Pandit (also his students).
