The long-running feud between comedians Kevin Hart and Katt Williams has once again become a major topic online following the release of Netflix’s live comedy event The Roast of Kevin Hart.
The feud, which had been simmering publicly for over a decade, became one of the most talked-about side stories during Netflix’s live roast event on Sunday night. The roast included a reference to the comedians’ strained relationship.
The feud between Hart and Williams intensified after Williams made explosive claims about Hart and the entertainment industry during several interviews over the past few years.
Williams had previously accused Hart of being heavily promoted by Hollywood executives, while suggesting that other comedians were denied similar opportunities. Hart largely avoided directly escalating the conflict publicly, although he occasionally dismissed Williams’ comments as bitterness and negativity.
Kevin Hart-Kat Williams feud begins
jab number 1
The feud between Kevin and Kat originally appeared on 2014 That’s when Kat started making jokes and passive-aggressive comments about comedians becoming part of the Hollywood machine. Kevin was appearing in films such as Ride Along, About Last Night, Think Like a Man Too and Top Five at this time when his cinematic career began.
Kat claimed later that year that she “helped” make Kevin the comedian he is today.
jab number 2
Williams took another dig at Hart during his 2016 Conspiracy Theory Comedy Tour in Atlanta, Georgia, when he called Hart a “Hollywood puppet”.
Although Hart did not directly address Williams, many interpreted an Instagram post she made that year about solidarity in the comedy industry as a subtle dig at Kat.
In the caption, Hart wrote, “True professionals understand the importance of sticking together and supporting each other…At the end of the day we are comedians and there aren’t a lot of people that can make it to the level where we have made it. But a comedian’s success opens a lot of doors and when you see those doors open you have the opportunity to walk through them…It’s about helping each other not trying to tear each other down About to do!!! Insecure people will never understand that “support and encouragement.”
jab number 3
In an interview on Atlanta station V-103 2018Kat decides to drag fellow comedian Tiffany Haddish into her and Kevin’s feud by asking why their movie Girls Trip was so successful. Kevin responded by standing up for Tiffany in an interview with “The Breakfast Club”.
jab number 4
The feud reached a new level of visibility 2024 When Williams appeared on Shannon Sharp’s extremely viral Club Shay Interview podcast. He called Hart an “industry plant” in interviews.
He said, “Nobody in Hollywood remembers going to a sold-out Kevin Hart show, having a line for him, or ever getting a standing ovation at a comedy club.”
She further alleged, “He already had his deals when he came here. Have we heard of any comedian who came to LA”
buried the axe
The comedians finally ended their rivalry in the middle of Netflix’s The Roast of Kevin Hart show 2026.
During the roast, Williams made light of the feud and said, “Yes, I said some things that I would like to take back, some things that I said were misunderstood. I said that he was a Hollywood puppet, and I want to explain that because it may not be what you think. I meant that the head of Netflix literally has his hands full on Kevin and he can make him do anything.”
Following Regina Hall’s introduction on stage at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles, Williams commented on the invitation to the show, “I’m surprised they invited me.” You have very little star power. They had to start inviting your enemies. “I hate him,” I grumbled. “Come anyway,” he said.
