Kevin Hart’s brutal message to the Roosters: ‘I’m not afraid of you…’; Comedian promotes Netflix live special

Comedian and actor Kevin Hart has issued a fiery invitation to comics preparing to cash in during Netflix’s upcoming live comedy special. He told the Roosters he was ready for it and “not scared.”

Hart shared the message on Instagram, quoting the comedian’s iconic “Kings of Comedy” line in a nod to late comedy legend Bernie Mac. “In the words of the late, great Bernie Mac… ‘I’m not afraid of you mothafucka’… bring it on!!!!!!! Make sure y’all tune in… we’re live on Netflix tonight,” Hart captioned the post promoting The Roast of Kevin Hart.

According to Netflix Tudum’s website, the event will feature comedians and celebrity guests taking shots at Hart’s personal life, career, controversies, and long-standing friendships, which the platform describes as a “full-blown cultural moment.”

Kevin Hart’s message to comics and roasters

Hart’s social media message immediately sparked online reactions. Hart addressed the “concerning” messages he received following his decision to do the Netflix roast show.

He said, “It’s the old Kevin Hart roast, and everyone’s asking, ‘Kevin, are you sure?’, ‘Oh Kev, how are you feeling? You’re nervous.’…Shut the fuck up.”

He continued, “You forgot who I am? You forgot what I do? You woke up a dog. When a dog gets angry, the dog is going to bite and the dog is going to bite hard.”

Hart then, in his signature Hart style, ends the message by saying, “It’s going down man. Oh, you better tune in… I’m saying I get the mic last. Don’t you ever forget I get the last word.”

Kevin Hart leans into roast culture

Hart has become one of Netflix’s biggest comedy collaborators in recent years. Along with stand-up specials, Hart recently launched the competition series Funny AF with Kevin Hart.

Netflix continues to expand its live-event strategy into stand-up comedy and unscripted style shows. The company previously described live comedy as a key engagement driver after The Roast of Tom Brady became one of the most talked-about unscripted events online.

According to Netflix promotional materials, The Roast of Kevin Hart will feature a series of comedians and celebrity guests who will deliver “harsh jokes” in a “no-holds-barred war of words.”

The website reads, “Given Hart’s history of consistently roasting his peers, it’s safe to say that the comedians attending the event will relish the opportunity to give it straight back to him.”

The special streams live on Sunday, May 10 as part of Netflix Is a Joke Fest 2026. This marks the latest major celebrity roast event for Netflix’s Tudum. The roast will be hosted by Shane Gillis.

Meanwhile, Hart appears all set for chaos. “Let’s go,” Hart concluded in the post, issuing the challenge just hours before it went live on Netflix.
