Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey has won the hearts of audiences around the world. Matt Damon’s ripped look in the epic film has caught fans’ attention, but the Oscar winner says he can’t take all the credit. But “happy sad confusedIn the podcast he revealed that some of the memorable arm shots from the film were actually those of his stunt double.
“When we did Force Perspective with the Lestrygonians… there were these stuntmen who were all seven feet and then they got stuntmen who were under five feet. My double was a woman, a female stunt performer who had the biggest arms I’d ever seen. When she came into the catering tent, it was the first time I met her. I went over and hugged her and thanked her for all the work she’d done,” Damon said.
“There are scenes where you see these giants looming over me [and that’s her],” Damon continued. “Almost 100% of the film was my arms, but you have to leave it where it needs to be.”
Damon’s body double performed the Lestrygonians scene where Odysseus is pursued and attacked by the giants, played by 34-year-old Devin Dalton, who is more than a foot shorter than him and is 21 years his junior.

- Devin Dalton is a Canadian actor, dancer and stunt performer best known for his motion capture roles and voice work. He began acting and dancing at a young age and was discovered by an agent in his hometown of Edmonton, who brought him to the film industry in Vancouver.
- According to IMDb, his first feature film was Rise of the Planet of the Apes, where he played two lead live-action roles. This began his career as a motion capture artist, working with stars such as Andy Serkis and Terry Notary. She later returned to play Cornelius in the franchise’s third film, War for the Planet of the Apes.
- Nickelodeon cast her in the lead role in A Fairly Odd Christmas alongside Drake Bell and Daniella Monet, and she also played Gretel in Escape from Mr. Lemoncello’s Library. She has also worked with Steven Spielberg on The BFG, which she calls one of her most rewarding projects.

After The Odyssey was released in theaters on July 17, Dalton shared an Instagram post. With behind-the-scenes photos and clips from the film. She wrote in the caption, “No spoilers yet, but I’m incredibly grateful to have been a part of the Lestrygonian fight. Stunt doubling the incredible @matt_damon_official. An epic team effort. We worked hard, had a lot of laughs, and made memories I’ll never forget.”
