The new mythological suspense thriller series ‘Mandla Murder’ on Netflix takes you straight to the mysterious streets of Charandaspur village. It is the story of a place where centuries-old folklore, blood-soaked sacrificial rituals and police investigations are all woven into one thread. The eight-episode series takes you on a journey through time from the 1950s to the modern day of 2025—and each episode reveals a new secret.

the story

One gruesome murder after another is taking place in the village, each time some part of the body is found missing. The local police are worried. Meanwhile, a sharp-witted CIB officer Rhea (Vani Kapoor) is called from Delhi, who tries to solve the case in her own way. A suspended police officer Vikram (Vaibhav Gupta) helps Riya in this. As the two move forward, the case begins to take an even more sinister turn.

If we talk about acting

Surveen Chawla has breathed life into his character. The anger and brokenness seen in Vaibhav Gupta’s eyes is heart touching. Vaani Kapoor has also done a good job in the role of a CIB officer, just her track seems a bit incomplete, but not boring. The story is a little different. The camera work and locations like village streets, old mansions and spooky forests are truly amazing. The look and feel of the series is absolutely captivating.

Now let’s talk about weaknesses

There are so many twists and turns in the story that sometimes the mind gets confused. It takes a long time to figure out who the real villain is. Some episodes can seem a bit slow, especially if you’re in a binge-watch mood, so patience is key. As for the climax, it seems a little light, meaning that the ending is not as powerful as the beginning was scary.
