Amal Mallick has once again spoken about a credit issue related to one of his early Bollywood songs. The music composer has created the title track I am your herowhich was first sung by his brother Armaan Malik and later recorded by Salman Khan. Amal claimed that he and lyricist Kumar were not properly credited for their work.

He has now explained why he decided to speak publicly about the matter. According to Amal, he spent years trying to solve the problem personally, but those pleas did not bring about the changes he wanted.

He said that his father Dabboo Malik remained silent on the issue for about 15 years. Amal clarified that he did not want the matter to be called a “controversy”. It’s about proper credit, authorship and accountability and my refusal to ignore those principles.

Taking up

“It was only when they failed to follow my basic requirement as an artist – get proper credit – that I went after them and posted one. If you look at my song credits, even today, most of them still don’t include my name.”

A few days after Salman Khan Films shared a social media post celebrating 11 years, Amal Malik spoke about the credit issue. I am your hero. The post showed Khan performing the song but did not mention Amal as its composer.

The musician then commented on the post and questioned why the song’s producer was not named. He said that a song requires a lot of effort from the composer and lyricist, so when the song is discussed, they should also be recognized.

Amal also asked the person managing the social media account not to remove his comment and said he wanted Salman Khan to see it.
