Nivin Pauly-Mamita Baiju’s Bethlehem Kudumba Unit Malayalam language romantic comedy has crossed the Rs 300 crore mark globally. Released on 21 August, the film, directed by Girish AD and produced by Bhavna Studios, stars Fahadh Faasil, Dilesh Pothan and Siyam Pushkaran in lead roles.

Speaking to NDTV, the film’s director Girish Eddy called Mamita Baiju a ‘natural talent’.
“Mamita is a natural. I worked with her in Super Sharanya and at that time, I told her that I want to do this film with her,” he said.
Interestingly, Mamita Baiju’s two films – Vishwanath and Sons and Bethlehem Kudamba Unit – released within a week and both saw her in very similar roles. While in Vishwanath & Sons, Mamita’s character, Maddy, also falls in love with a middle-aged Surya, Bethlehem Kudamba Unit, her character, Ashley, falls in love with a 35-year-old Nivin Pauly.
Girish said, “Unfortunately, both the films released at the same time but it didn’t affect the Bethlehem Kudamba unit. Though we were a bit worried initially, Vishwanath & Sons is completely different from our film. Suriya’s film is a Tamil film and ours is a Malayalam film and the stories are very different. My film was a romantic which released at the same time.
It emerged as the highest-grossing Malayalam film of all time and the sixth highest-grossing Indian film of 2026.
The fictional short film Soulmates – Oru Sathukudi Pranayama, which is depicted in the film, was later released as a standalone short film on YouTube on 30 August 2026.
