"The person I met two hours ago": Governor Yadav mourns Mushtaq Khan

Rajpal Yadav has shared a heart-wrenching memory of his last meeting with actor Mushtaq Khan, who died at the age of 56 after a long battle with cancer. What has shaken the actor is that he met Mushtaq at Mumbai’s Nanavati Hospital two hours before his death.

Rajpal Yadav took to Instagram on Thursday and shared a picture of Mushtaq, reminiscing the moments they spent together in the hospital. He said Mushtaq was awake, recognized him, shook his hand and reacted to their conversation.

“This afternoon I went to meet Mushtaq Bhai, spoke to him; he saw me, shook my hand and was listening to and reacting to all our conversations. I still can’t believe that the person I met two hours ago, the person I shook hands with, is no longer with us,” wrote Governor Yadav.

He added, “We all bow before the Almighty’s decision. Mushtaq Bhai was, is and always will be a great person and actor. I pay my respects to you with a heavy heart.”

Rajpal’s post came soon after news of Mushtaq’s demise, with tributes to the legendary actor also being shared on social media.

Hailing from Balaghat district of Madhya Pradesh, Mushtaq had worked in both films and television for many years. He became a familiar face through several popular Hindi films and was particularly remembered for his role as a disabled hockey player. Welcome (2007).

His film credits are also included Aashiqui (1990), Hum hai rah love (1993), Hera visit (2000), Pair no. 1 (2001), will you marry me? (2004), Player 786 (2012), the woman (2018), Congratulations (2022), Gadar 2 (2023), street 2 (2024) and baby john (2024).

Mushtaq is survived by his wife, son and daughter.
