Debutant filmmaker Jason Sanjay watched his first film sigma With the audience on its first day today, as her mother Sangeeta and sister Divya were also present for the first-day-first-show.
Speaking exclusively to NDTV, Jason said that the first-day-first-show was not just about seeing his film on the big screen, but to understand how the audience received it.
“This is the moment I’ve been waiting for. More than seeing it on the big screen, seeing people’s pulse and knowing what worked for them,” explained Jason, who made the first day’s experience special for him.
He said that watching the film with the audience gave him the opportunity to experience their reactions and understand what connected with them.
Jason also spoke about the influence of his star father, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay, and his filmmaker grandfather, SA Chandrasekhar, on his filmmaking journey.
She said many of her father’s qualities inspired her, especially his punctuality.
On his grandfather’s impression, Jason said he didn’t share though sigma script with SA Chandrasekhar, he could have learned from his grandfather’s experience as a filmmaker.
Making a film within the budget to help the producer, he said, any filmmaker can learn and take inspiration from his grandfather. Jason also admits that making his directorial debut with a legacy of a star father and a filmmaker grandfather came with some pressure.
He said, “There was a little pressure on me while making the film.
When asked if he would consider acting in the future, Jason said that he has no idea yet whether he should step in front of the camera.
sigma This is the directorial debut of Jason Sanjay. Produced by Subaskaran of Lyca Productions, the film stars Sandeep Kishan and Faria Abdullah in lead roles. Thaman has composed the music, while Krishnan Vasanth has handled the cinematography. The episodic action comedy has received a U/A certification and hits theaters today. For Jason, the release marks the beginning of his journey as a filmmaker – with his first audience reactions experienced on the film’s opening day.
