New Delhi:
House bound Actor Vishal Jethwa responded to Rupali Ganguly’s comment that television actors were once treated with contempt. Vishal, who made the leap from the small screen to critically acclaimed roles in Bollywood, expressed similar views.
talking with Free Press Journal In Fikki Frames 2026, Vishal shared that actors are often labeled according to the medium in which they have worked.People think, ‘Oh, he’s a TV actor, he’s on TV. ‘So, it hurts me a bit. I’ve seen a lot of people act in movies, and they feel, ‘Well, he’s a TV actor,’ and they categorize him,’(People have a certain perspective: ‘Oh, he’s a TV actor; he comes from TV.’ That bothers me a little bit. I’ve seen a lot of people who work in movies think, ‘Oh, that’s a TV actor,’ and they categorize them.)
Vishal believes that actors should be seen as actors, and people should not put them in a particular category. “An actor should look like an actor. It should not have any kind of category, whether he is a TV actor, a theater actor, he only does advertisements or only modeling and he does not do much. I think the change I want is that every actor should get an equal opportunity, irrespective of the platform or position they are working in. (I feel an actor should be seen as an actor, without being pigeonholed into categories, such as a TV actor, a theater actor, or someone who only does advertising or modeling and nothing else. I believe there needs to be a change where every actor gets equal opportunities, regardless of the platform or position they are working in).”
After receiving praise for homewardVishal is all set to act Shakti Shalini With Aneet Padda. Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, the film marks the latest entry into Maddock Films’ expansive horror-comedy universe.
