Nana Patekar had finished shooting for Shakti Shalini, starring Aneet Padda, before he died this morning at the age of 75 at his home in Goa, reports Zoom. He joined the shooting of the film in May this year. Nana Patekar will reportedly play a magician/tantric in the mythological film.

Shakti Shalini’s announcement coincided with Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandana’s Thamma, which hit theaters on October 21, 2025. According to initial reports, Vishal Jethwa and Vineet Kumar Singh are also a part of the film.
In a previous interview with Zoom, Stree franchise director Amar Kaushik said that Shakti Shalini is the most important chapter in the horror-comedy universe. Talking about signing Aneet for the film after the success of Sayara, he said that the team was keen to cast a new artist. The filmmaker said that he and Maddock Films chief Dinesh Vijan realized ‘he is the one’ after meeting him and listening to the way he spoke to him.
Death of Nana Patekar
Nana Patekar died of a heart attack at the age of 75 at his home in Goa. He was declared dead at 5:20 am.
Patekar was found unconscious at his home in Goa’s Dona Paula and was rushed to Manipal Hospital where doctors tried to revive him for about 45 minutes before declaring him brought dead.
The filmmaker was given cardiopulmonary resuscitation, known as CPR, an emergency procedure performed when someone’s heart has stopped or breathing has stopped.
“Despite 45 minutes of continuous CPR, he could not be revived,” Dr Shekhar Salkar, head of oncology department at Manipal Hospital, told news agency ANI. “A medico-legal case (MLC) has been registered, and an autopsy will be conducted.”
The last rites of Nana Patekar will be performed this evening at his house in Donje village in Pune.
